2008-2009 Policies and Procedures: Parking Violations & Fines Cont.

VEHICLE REMOVAL AND IMPOUNDMENT
Transportation and Parking Services is authorized to remove, immobilize, impound, and/or enter motor vehicles on University property at the owner’s expense.
Vehicles may be immobilized or impounded if the vehicle: is illegally parked in a disability space, state vehicle space, or loading zone; constitutes a traffic or safety hazard; has more than $50.00 in unpaid citations not on appeal; displays a counterfeit or altered permit; or displays a permit not registered to the individual driving the vehicle.

Permit holders and/or vehicles with more than $50.00 in unpaid citations not on appeal are subject to an Impound Warning. An Impound Warning allows an additional 48-hour period to pay the citations in full. An Impound Warning does not expire until a zero ($0.00) balance exists for the permit holder and/or vehicle.

Arrangements for vehicle release can be made at our Bevis Hall office.

All of the following are required for a vehicle release from immobilization or impound:

  • full payment of all outstanding citations (including any fines that have been transferred to ARCS) and towing cost
  • a valid state-issued driver’s license
  • a valid photo I.D., if driver’s license does not contain a photograph
  • current vehicle registration

Before a vehicle is released, all outstanding obligations, including towing costs and all fines that have been transferred to ARCS, must be paid. Payment accepted for vehicle release includes cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or Buck I.D.

Personal checks or counter checks are not accepted for an immobilization or impound release.
